Typical Forex Trader

Typical Forex Trader Most traders know that formulating a successful forex strategy requires a lot more than an analysis of the price action itself. Our own mood, health, the volatility of the market, and the time period during which the strategy will be applied must all be considered carefully in order to derive the maximum profit from any trading strategy. An important issue in this respect is the non-stop price action in the forex market. We all have to sleep, rest and, eat, but forex market is still functioning. Traders in Europe and Asia have to cope with the fact that the earth is round: as trading in their nations ends, it will be beginning somewhere else. Americans have an advantage since the country is surrounded by oceans. There are time periods when trading is very subdued, usually before the Asian session, when strategies exploiting low volatility can be employed. Let's explore the different time periods of trading from a New York-based trader's perspective. 7:00 am -8:00 am Traders wake up early. The U.S. market opens at 8 am, and European trade tones down significantly in the hour before. This is a good time to read newspapers, study the previous day's data, and formulate strategies for the day's trading. 8::00 am-10:00 am The most hectic, chaotic, and volatile part of the trading day is the period between 8 am and 10 am, when markets in London and Frankfurt and New York are all open. In the period leading to the crucial news releases at 8:30, liquidity is deep, and traders are alert. In addition, there are option expiries in this period, news conferences, and political events. Traders who prefer volatile market will thrive in this environment. But even those who trade calmer markets would do well to stay in touch with market developments at this time. 10: 00 am- 4 pm The price action in this period is mostly defined by the events of the previous two hours. Sometimes there are news releases in this time frame, but usually of lesser significance than the releases of the first two hours. Trading tones down during lunch, and settles down to a relatively stable, but active routine afterwards. 4: 00 pm- 7:00 pm During this period activity is often subdued, and as banks in the U.S. close gradually before Asian traders take over. This is a good time to do some scalping, and to reconsider, and evaluate the day's events. You can devise strategies and exploit any market period profitably when you partner with a good broker. Armed with a good education, you can respond quickly and efficiently to any market event. Education is your responsibility. Gain the best background to achieve the greatest profits. Finding the top forex brokers online is not hard, provided that you choose the right sources. Create the right strategy for the correct time frame, and profits are never far away.
